We have an American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology physician as well as two experienced Physician’s Assistants. We are contracted with virtually all quality health plans in Tennessee.
Dr. Rebecca Walker, MD, FACOG, is our lead physician and overall boss chick. Dr. Walker went to the University of Tennessee School of Health Sciences for medical school and residency. She taught in the residency program before returning to Knoxville to be near her family. Dr. Walker is passionate about women’s health and wellness. She loved delivering babies and helping her patients of all ages achieve optimum health.
Debra Howard is a native Tennessean, born and raised in West Tennessee and an 18 year resident of Knoxville, TN. She graduated from The University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and from South College with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies.
Deb was here at PWWS for her clinical rotation in Women’s Health last summer and is excited to now be a practicing Physician Assistant at PWWS. She fell in love with women’s health and PWWS on her rotation and was thrilled when the timing of her graduation and an open position at PWWS coincided.
She and her husband, Casey, have two children, Abbey and Reid. At night and on the weekends, you will find Deb either at the soccer field watching Reid play defender or at the football field watching Abbey play clarinet in the marching band.
Melissa Chittum FNP-C, was born and raised in Tennessee and has lived in Knoxville since 1996. started working with Dr. Walker in 2015. Melissa received her Bachelors of Nursing in 2002 from the University of Tennessee and in 2014 she received her Master’s in Nursing from Tennessee Tech University. In 2002, Melissa began work as a registered nurse starting in Labor and Delivery. Since that time, she has worked in all areas of Women’s Health including antepartum, Labor and Delivery, postpartum, circulating as a surgical nurse and in the recovery room. Melissa is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is a trusted preceptor in the Knoxville area.
In her free time, you can find Melissa spending time with her husband Brandon and 2 children; Austin and Ashley.
She finds the relationship she is able to form with her patients over time as the best part of working in Women’s Health. She enjoys seeing her patients and their families grow and change over time. She is always excited when she is able to meet new patients and begin this relationship. She looks forward to working with you as your women’s health provider.
Valerie Jordan graduated from King University with her Master’s in Nursing. She has a vast obstetrical knowledge which she has accumulated as a labor and delivery nurse of many years. She holds a certification in Obstetrics, specializing in antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum care. She has worked side by side with Dr. Walker delivering babies and caring for pregnant women for the last 14 years. Here at Parkwest Women’s Specialist, Valerie continues to care for those pregnant patients as well as women in all stages of life. She considers herself to be blessed to be working her dream job in her dream location. While away from the office Valerie, her husband and their children can be found on the lake, enjoying the beautiful Tennessee weather.
